True History of 420
Depending on who you ask, or their state of inebriation, there are as many varieties of answers as strains of medical bud in California. It’s the number of active chemicals in marijuana. It’s teatime in Holland. It has something to do with Hitler’s birthday. It’s those numbers in that Bob Dylan song multiplied.
The origin of the term 420, celebrated around the world by pot smokers every April 20th, has long been obscured by the clouded memories of the folks who made it a phenomenon.
Great piece on the history of 420, and it includes actual research. I admit that over the years I’ve heard most of the alternative explanations covered in this piece (particularly the 420 police code), but it seems that as with many things the actual history is much more mundane. Weed Kills Breast Cancer Too
…a compound of the marijuana plant may prevent aggressive breast cancers from spreading throughout the body, new research from the United States suggests. A team of researchers at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute say cannabis compound CBD (cannabidiol) could provide a non-toxic alternative to chemotherapy for cancer treatments.
Nevermind that you’ve got to concentrate this stuff for it to be effective, so smoking won’t do the trick, this is one more way that weed can improve people’s lives. Still illegal and stigmatized by the establishment. No news regarding any other new and impressive cancer treatments.
Grow Room Fail

When you smoke enough of your own product that you think nobody will notice a forest of weed on your front steps, you’re pretty much a fail waiting to happen.
