Cousin It Appears On Griddle
Photo By Todd Krainin Imperial Valley Press
CALEXICO, Calif. — The hottest thing on the griddle at the Las Palmas restaurant these days isn’t the food. It’s the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe that a cook says she saw in the griddle.
Yet another vague Rorschach which must be an image of <insert random mythological figure here>. This one’s especially weak, and looks a whole lot more like Cousin It from The Adams Family than Our Lady of Guadalupe. But please, by all means, do not think for yourself…follow the mindless zealots in their rush to see the griddle.
Discrimination Fail
Faith organizations and individuals who view homosexuality as sinful and refuse to provide services to gay people are losing a growing number of legal battles that they say are costing them their religious freedom.
Yes, “we have a right to discriminate against people” is a very compelling argument. If you’re out in the marketplace providing services, you can’t refuse your services to people just because they’re gay. That is not the erosion of your religious freedom. If it makes you feel better, look at it as a mandate from society to be more like the guy you say you worship. If you absolutely feel the need, feel free to hate anyone you want in private with the other members of your cult.
The marketplace doesn’t tolerate it anymore. Hey, maybe you guys should just go form a commune somewhere? I bet we could find room for all of you in Antarctica. For now, you’ll have to make due with your “Membership in a Civilized Society” fail.
Justice Win, Religion Fail
PALERMO (Reuters) – A Tunisian pilot who paused to pray instead of taking emergency measures before crash-landing his plane, killing 16 people, has been sentenced to 10 years in jail by an Italian court along with his co-pilot.
Too bad the Italians aren’t putting this guy under the jail. Can you honestly imagine being the pilot of a plane with 16 people on board, having an equipment malfunction, and then saying “fuck it, forget all that training about what to do in this situation, I’m gonna PRAY about it.”? There are indeed people of faith in the world who are worthy of respect, and this douche gives them all a bad name.
I especially enjoy the fact that the article doesn’t mention his religion. I mean, there’s no reason it should, and it really doesn’t matter which of the Big Spooky People he kneels to, but it makes this story a much more appropriate example of the fact that religion kills. I think the most disturbing part of this article is the fact that this douche probably would have gotten away with it in the U.S.
Creationism Fail
“Texas State Representative Leo Berman has proposed House Bill 2800, which would exempt any private non-profit institution that requires students to complete substantive course work from having to acquire a certificate of authority from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Berman admits that his inspiration for the bill was the Institute for Creation Research Graduate School.”
Here we have the Ignorance Movement in full swing. Everyone’s welcome to any faith that gives them a little peace, but extending Biblical literalism to the point that you’re specifically not teaching science isn’t just Creationism, it’s deliberate de-evolution on an intellectual level. Good thing God remembered to drop all those dinosaur bones to fuck with us. Wait…no…they have an explanation for the dinosaur bones, which is actually being commemorated in the Creation Museum.
No, tragically that’s not a link to a spoof site. Their “Museum Events” include all the hard hitting topics you’d expect from a facility dedicated to the preservation of historical fact and archaeology; such as “Is Genesis Relevant in Today’s World” and “Snakes Alive”, a look at reptiles from “God’s perspective.” When you fill the heads of children with the belief that any religious text is to be taken literally you’re polluting the world I have to live in with ignorance, and I will call you out on your fail.
